Database Administrator

We are looking for a Database Administrator to manage the Oracle Databases and ProgreSQL of the Domain Name Registration System (DRS) and related data movements (cleaning, migration, etc.). In addition, part of the time will be spent on setting up and improving our Lab's infra, compute and data platform. For this, we are looking for a Database Administrator with DBA and infra experience who is happy and enthusiastic about the activities below and recognises the input we expect from him or her.

What will you be doing?

• Manage large number of Oracle databases, which are growing quite rapidly in size, including all RMAN backups.

• Creating and maintaining (management) scripts for databases and tooling and scripts for automatic deployments.

• Managing the server hardware (Linux) used in our data centre.

• Setting up, managing and continuously improving SIDN Labs' research data platform; infra, compute and DWH.

• Building knowledge on new VM technologies and keeping it up to date.

• Higher vocational or graduate-level working and reasoning ability.

• Extensive experience as a DBA for Oracle and PostgreSQL.

• Knowledge of modern software and data technologies, such as S3 object storage, Apache Spark and Trino and preferably Kubernetes.

• Experience managing Red Hat Linux, Ansible and preferably Talos Linux and SUSE RancherExperience developing deployment scripts with Python and Bash, for example.

• Experience with (Red Hat) Linux, preferably with RHCE certification (RHEL 7 and RHEL 8) and scripting.

• Rotates in and thinks proactively, including with SIDN's external research partners.

• Has a healthy mix of management skills and above all a demonstrable experimental mindset and does not just follow processes.

• Own responsibility and act in autonomy; You take initiative, are open, transparent and enthusiastic.

• Can express himself well in English, both orally and in writing.
