Successful SSI Meetup with nice Yivi use cases

Interesting speakers from Chipsoft, Anoigo and ECP. A recap.

SSI Meetup bij SIDN

On Thursday afternoon, 31 August, we hosted the Self Sovereign Identity Community Meetup. Around 50 interested people visited SIDN and were stimulated and challenged by the interesting speakers from Chipsoft, Anoigo and ECP. A recap.

The latest SSI news and intro Yivi

Alexander van den Wall Bake opened the Meetup on behalf of the Self Sovereign Identity Community and shared the latest news on SSI. He introduced Cristy Elmendorp from the Yivi team, the host. She gave a brief introduction on who SIDN is. Cristy took the attendees through what Yivi, the identity app, is and articulated its values and applications.

Chipsoft deployed Yivi as login at GPs

The first guest speaker was Reinier Zevenhuijzen, software developer at Chipsoft. He gave an insight into the world of Chipsoft. They are market leader in the field of electronic patient records. They provide these for hospitals, home care and GPs.

GPs could not yet log in with DigiD around 2022 partly because the audits were not affordable for a GP practice. Yivi turned out to be an excellent replacement for this, allowing patients to still securely access their own medical records. So they could make their own appointments, view lab results or schedule an e-consult. Meanwhile, the use of DigiD is possible at every GP anyway and most patients switch to it because DigiD is already more established. Chipsoft does look further into new applications for the secure exchange of sensitive data between hospitals and healthcare institutions with Yivi. For example, they see great opportunities for Yivi around replacing the UZI pass.

Privacy big deal and pilot by Amsterdam municipality

Reinier handed over the baton to Jeroen de Beer, co-owner of Anoigo. A software partner that does a lot of business in municipal land, government, but also in business. They take care of linking applications and, with their new product Paws, are now doing the same for ID wallets. Jeroen took us through the news stories about data breaches and violations of our privacy. Although you did not have to convince the audience present of this, it is always amazing how much goes wrong and how little it drives people and organisations to drastically change their behaviour when it comes to their privacy. We also got an insight into the results of the pilot conducted by the City of Amsterdam through Anoigo with Yivi. See the results and read the whole article on Yivi.app
