Standing together for everyone's right to control their own personal data

SIDN joins MyData

Everyone should be able to control their own personal data. SIDN sees that as an important right, worth standing up for. So we've joined MyData, a community that works to promote personal data self-determination. We share that objective, which we pursue with the IRMA app, for example.

MyData

MyData's mission is to empower people by improving their right to personal data self-determination. The international MyData community, MyData Global, has about a hundred organisational members and four hundred individual members, all working on the ethical use of personal data. Their goal is a fair digital society, where the sharing of personal data is based on trust and a balanced relationship between individuals and organisations.

IRMA app

Like MyData, SIDN believes that people should be able to decide what happens to their personal data. That's why we're developing the IRMA app. The app puts you in control of your personal data, so that you know what information you're sharing with whom. It's the secure and privacy-friendly way to manage your data.

Added value of MyData

Joining MyData means we can exchange knowledge and make contact with other organisations and people that share our ethical principles. At the same time, our membership underscores the importance of personal data self-determination.

IRMA's value to the MyData community

IRMA lets you log in and identify yourself in an easy, secure and privacy-friendly way. And, because it's an open-source solution, the MyData community can make use of it. For more about IRMA, see: • IRMA for service usersIRMA for online service providers
