Loek Bakker has more than 20 years of management and consultancy experience gained in roles at the interface between business and IT. He has previously held positions at TenneT, Alliander, Gartner, Capgemini and elsewhere. During his career, he has worked in fields such as IT strategy and architecture, digital transformation, cybersecurity, governance, people management and talent development.

"With the appointment of Loek Bakker, SIDN is gaining an experienced CTO who can assure the technical modernity of SIDN's systems, enhance the organisation's IT innovation capabilities, and reinforce SIDN's national and international role and position," said Marjet van Zuijlen, Chair of SIDN's Supervisory Board.

As the 'Dutch sector of the internet', the .nl domain is essential to the society and economy of the Netherlands. Ensuring that the domain always works is therefore vital. To that end, SIDN requires stable and reliable processes, the latest proven technology and high levels of cybersecurity. The CTO has ultimate responsibility for the availability, confidentiality, integrity and future-readiness of SIDN's IT services, and for the logical security of the organisation's IT systems and data.
