SIDN BrandGuard update Q4 2023
BrandGuard now scans behind cookie walls
BrandGuard now scans behind cookie walls
Over the last few months, our development team has been working to refine SIDN BrandGuard and fix a number of bugs. We've also resolved a couple of problems with 2-factor authentication. The main improvements are outlined below, along with a final reminder to enable 2-factor authentication.
For its logo detection and threat assessment functions, SIDN BrandGuard scans all websites in the .nl zone. And we've recently enhanced BrandGuard's scanning capabilities by enabling the scanner to click through full-screen cookie walls in order to scan the pages concealed behind them. The enhancement means increased scan reach and more effective logo detection.
In the latest release, a new, more modular logo detection architecture has been adopted, making it quicker and easier for us to add or change logos without affecting existing scans. The result is significantly improved performance and faster result reporting.
Various SIDN BrandGuard bugs have recently been fixed. The main problems we've addressed are:
The new user creation process sometimes failed
2FA sometimes didn't work with Microsoft Authenticator
In the API, page numbers weren't always displayed correctly
The search bar wasn't displayed correctly in some cases
The boxes highlighting detected logos weren't always displayed correctly for web interface users
All those issues have now been fixed.
Although it's still optional for now, 2FA will be mandatory from the start of 2024. Almost all SIDN BrandGuard users have already enabled 2FA, but a few have yet to do so. If you're one of those that haven't switched on 2FA, please do so before the end of the year.
