SIDN BrandGuard: Domain Name Surveillance Service gets a new name

Service upgraded with extra functionality and redesigned web interface

Our Domain Name Surveillance Service, or DBS for short, has been around since 2012. In those nine years, the DBS has evolved, creating a mismatch between the name and the service, especially the web service. So, on 17 November, we're holding a Meetup for users, at which a new name will be unveiled: SIDN BrandGuard. DBS Feed will become known as SIDN Feed.

Background

We're expanding our brand protection services considerably. Earlier this year, we introduced a legal support service. And, starting in 2022, we'll be reporting not only lookalike domain registrations, but also significant online content and third-party logo use. In other words, the package is becoming much more extensive than a Domain Name Surveillance Service.

What's changing?

We're not changing our conditions of use or our product conditions. But an upgraded web application will be rolled out to coincide with the name change. It'll feature a user-friendly interface, where search results can be filtered by risk level, with risk estimates based on how each domain name is used and what content is linked to it. In 2022, filtering will be further enhanced to take account of suspected logo abuse.

Online brand protection market is growing fast

Our brand protection service has been very successful. And the aim is to continue that success under the new name. SIDN BrandGuard already protects more than three hundred leading Dutch brands and trading names. The service addresses the growing demand for systems capable of defending brand owners against cyberthreats. And that demand is likely to continue growing in the years ahead -- as explained in our (Dutch) whitepaper based on a survey of sixty-plus top brands.
