  • I am looking for a domain name registrant. Where can I look it up?

    The Whois is an easy-to-use tool for checking the availability of a .nl domain name. If the domain name is already taken, you can see who has registered it.

  • I would like to transfer my domain name to another registrar. What is the procedure?

    To get your domain name transferred, you need the token (unique ID number) for your domain name. Your existing registrar has the token and is obliged to give it to you within five days, if you ask for it. The procedure for changing your registrar is described on the page transferring your domain name.

  • The details registered about me/my company are incorrect or out of date. How can I get them updated?

    To update the contact details associated with your domain name, you need to contact your registrar. Read more about updating contact details.

  • Why is my domain name in quarantine?

    When a domain name is cancelled, we aren't told the reason, so we can't tell you. You'll need to ask your registrar. The advantage of quarantine is that, if a name's cancelled by mistake, you can always get it back.

    One common reason is that the contract between you and your registrar says you've got to renew the registration every year. If you haven't set up automatic renewal and you don't renew manually, the registration will expire.

SIDN, operator of the .nl domain and one of the driving forces behind the IRMA privacy-friendly identity solution, has entered into a partnership with Zynyo, the electronic signing platform. By linking the IRMA application to the Zynyo platform, the two organisations are joining forces and sharing their expertise to further enhance their customer service offering with digital applications for business processes.

About IRMA

IRMA stands for 'I Reveal My Attributes'. The IRMA app enables people to easily and securely log in, identify themselves, authorise transactions and sign electronic documents. The free IRMA app lets users fetch their own identity 'attributes' using their smartphones, and then reveal or share only the necessary attributes with online service providers and others who request their details. No personal data is saved centrally or anywhere except the user's phone. Instead, each individual user keeps hold of their own digital proofs of ID, just as they do with a physical passport or driving licence. That design concept – where the user decides what personal data to share when and with whom – is known as Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI). Privacy-friendly decentral storage of personal data coupled with secure technology mean that IRMA is attracting more and more interest from public and private-sector service providers.

Signing with IRMA

"Zynyo is constantly looking to add new authentication options to its platform with the aim of boosting access to and trust in digital signing. IRMA is an exceptional authentication medium that will further enhance our platform. It can interact with various sources to fetch authenticated data specific to the signatory," says Zynyo CEO Michiel Geerdink. IRMA can enrich a digital signature with a range of relevant supporting information. As well as ID information taken straight from the population register (forename, surname, date of birth, place of residence), a signature can be enriched with a variety of 'attributes' obtained from trustworthy issuers. Examples include details of a signatory's authority to represent a business, as recorded in the Trade Register, verified personal data to support a lease contract signature, and a student registration number linked to a signature on academic documentation.

Assurance and privacy
