SIDN, the company behind .nl and more besides, has recently affiliated to the IDnext platform. IDnext is an open, independent platform that supports innovative developments in the field of digital identity. The internet and digital identity are closely linked. In the years ahead, rapid growth is expected in the level of internet use, the number of users and the range of potential applications. However, such developments depend heavily on users having confidence in the internet. IDnext wants to work with SIDN and play an important role in continuing to improve quality, security and privacy on the internet.
Collaboration will contribute to confidence in the internet
Society is digitalising at incredible speed, giving rise to a wide range of issues. And the internet's influence on the economy, society and daily life is increasing all the time, constantly creating new opportunities. "As an independent expert, SIDN plays an important role, influencing the reliability of and confidence in the digital world. By providing valuable services based on innovative, secure domains and digital identities, SIDN makes a significant contribution. Collaboration with the IDnext platform is completely consistent with that role. It will bring real benefits in terms of synergy, networking and the exchange of knowledge," commented Roelof Meijer, SIDN's CEO.

More emphasis on the internet user's social role
Robert Garskamp, founder of the IDnext platform, is enthusiastic about working with SIDN, believing that the partnership ties in with the platform's mission and objectives. "At IDnext, we look forward to working closely with SIDN to emphasise the internet user's social role. That will involve promoting user awareness and developing a standard for secure digital identities."
IDnext '15 takes place on 15 and 16 April
Collaboration between the two organisations will immediately find expression when SIDN's research engineer Jelte Jansen makes a presentation about the privacy framework for DNS Big data at IDnext '15. The annual IDnext event takes place at Noordwijkerhout's NH Leeuwenhorst on 15 and 16 April this year. IDnext '15 explores current developments and new initiatives in the field of digital identities.
