Three experts explained concisely and accessibly what you can do to ensure that your webshop or website is properly protected. Held as part of the annual SIDN-sponsored Alert Online Week, the webinar was very well received.
Online security is more important than ever
In a recent survey of Dutch internet users, more than half said that they were concerned about their on-line security. A lot can be done by companies and other organisations to address their clients' concerns. However, the jargon and the information overload leave a lot of website and webshop owners unsure what to do for the best.
Three routes to better security
During the webinar, three routes to better security were highlighted:
How can you prevent hacking? Websites with on-line apps that retain customer data often get hacked. Erik de Jong of Fox-IT described some of the ways of making your site less vulnerable to hackers.
How can you protect your brand on line? If you've got a busy webshop, the last thing you want is to lose business because of fraudsters diverting your customers to a fake website. Peter Dost of Novagraaf talked about on-line brand protection.
What do you need to consider when choosing a domain name and a hosting service provider? The market offers a huge amount of choice. Should you go for a high-speed service or an economy package? A cloud solution or something more traditional? In the final segment of the webinar, Wido Potters of BIT went over the options.
