Register for the SIDN TechTalk on 16 April

2 fascinating speakers, a free dinner and a drink at the end.

On Tuesday 16 April, we will organise another TechTalk! It's the familiar format: 2 fascinating speakers talking on proper tech subjects, plus an enjoyable meal. Come to the SIDN TechTalk and be inspired! Places are limited, so we recommend registering soon.

SIDN operates at the heart of the Dutch internet. Often in partnership with universities and other higher education centres. And often participating in national and international working groups concerned with abuse, security and data. We also maintain close ties with a variety of technical and other bodies in the Netherlands. As a result, we have expertise in many key fields, which we love to share with the internet community.

Who's TechTalk for?

Technical professionals and students from the Arnhem region who are passionate about their field, open to new developments and keen to share their knowledge.

Programme

18:00 – 19:00: Reception

Don't go eating before you arrive! The programme includes an enjoyable, free evening meal.

19:00 – 19:45: Talk 1

A testbed to evaluate post-quantum algorithms for DNS - Elmer Lastdrager (SIDN Labs)

DNS is a fundamental protocol on the Internet to translate domain names into IP addresses. It is secured by DNSSEC, an extension that provides authentication and integrity through the use of cryptographic signatures. The possible arrival of quantum computers threatens the security of DNSSEC, which is why cryptographic algorithms (post-quantum cryptography, PQC) are being developed that are safe for quantum computers. SIDN Labs is working on a testbed in which developers, network researchers and DNS operators can experiment with these PQC algorithms and DNSSEC. Ultimately, the aim is to evaluate existing post-quantum cryptographic algorithms developed by developers for use in DNS. In this presentation, we discuss some of the challenges and our progress in setting up a PQC testbed for DNS.

About Elmer

Dr.ir. Elmer Lastdrager works as a Research Engineer for SIDN Labs and investigates the challenges in applying post-quantum cryptography for the DNS.
