Olaf Kolkman joins SIDN Supervisory Board

Internet pioneer involved in initial development of DNSSEC

Olaf Kolkman has joined our Supervisory Board, with effect from 1 January. Olaf is well known in the internet industry as a pioneer who played a key part in consolidation of the modern internet's foundations. Olaf has held various prominent positions, including CITO of the Internet Society (ISOC), and Director of NLnet Labs, an organisation that collaborates with SIDN in many fields.

Earlier in his career, Olaf was closely involved in the development of DNSSEC within the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the organisation responsible for the standardisation of internet technologies. DNSSEC increases the security of the Domain Name System, one of the internet's main foundations. Olaf has also chaired the Internet Architecture Board, an IETF committee that additionally advises the Internet Society.

Other activities

Alongside his new role on SIDN's Supervisory Board, Olaf will remain active within ISOC, where he currently holds the position of Principal Internet Technology, Policy and Advocacy. He is also Treasurer of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise and sits on the foundation's board, as well as holding a seat on the Global Cyber Alliance's Strategic Advisory Board.
