Mark Frequin joins SIDN's Supervisory Board

SIDN's Supervisory Board (SB) has been further strengthened by the appointment of Mark Frequin, Director General of Housing and Construction at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, with effect from 1 April. Including Mr Frequin, the SB now has six members. The intention is that there should be seven SB members. The expectation is that the final vacancy will be filled in June 2015.

Career civil servant

Mark Frequin (59) entered the civil service in 1988, after previously working in education and for the Province of South Holland. He held a number of directorial posts at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science before becoming Deputy Secretary-General at the Ministry of Security & Justice, Director General of Telecommunications and Post at the Ministry of Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management, Director General of Energy & Telecoms at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Director General of Housing, Neighbourhoods and Integration at the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and Environmental Management. Since 2010, Mr Frequin has been Director General at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations.

Other activities

In addition to working at the ministry, Mr Frequin is Chair of the Association of Senior Civil Servants, debate leader for Reuring!Café’s and author of the books Met ministers op de tandem (Riding tandem with ministers) and Ja Minister – Nee Minister (Yes Minister – No Minister).

Mark Frequin studied Social/Economic Geography/Town Planning at the University of Groningen.
