Willem van Waveren and Peter van Schelven step down
Our Supervisory Board is gaining two new members. Lokke Moerel was appointed at the meeting in December 2020, and Gerben van Leeuwen has agreed to join in April 2021. The pair will replace Peter van Schelven and Willem van Waveren, who are approaching the end of the maximum tenure permitted under our constitution.
Lokke Moerel is Professor of Global ICT Law at Tilburg University and Senior Counsel at Morrison & Foerster, a Brussels-based law firm specialising in technology-related law. As well as holding various supervisory posts, Lokke is a member of the Dutch Cyber Security Council (the body that advises the Dutch government on cybersecurity), and cyber-expert attached to the European Commission's Horizon 2020 Innovation Programme and the Corporate Governance Code Monitoring Committee.
Like Willem van Waveren, whom he replaces, Gerben was proposed by the Registrars' Association. He is a successful entrepreneur with an excellent understanding of the hosting industry and the registrar community. Gerben's CV includes a period as owner and director of Argeweb, Amsio and SaasNow prior to their sale. Argeweb remains one of the biggest .nl registrars. For several years, Gerben was also a member of the DINL board. He currently owns and runs X-Corp BV, a company that he co-founded. Gerben will be formally appointed at the Supervisory Board meeting in April 2021.
