In response to Niek Willems, SIDN's DNS and Systems Administrator, who asked whether the King knew anything about how the DNS works, the King said, "Yes, I've even watched your video about supersokken." Watch our video explaining the DNS.
At the start of the visit, the King spoke to our Supervisory Board Chair Paul Schnabel and various SIDN staffers about the history and development of the .nl domain, what we're doing to make sure .nl remains one of the world's most secure domains, and how we assure its continuous availability. His Majesty then talked to our CEO Roelof Meijer, Registrars' Association Chair Martijn Kamphuis, Bits of Freedom's Evelyn Austin, internet sociologist and DIVD co-founder Chris van 't Hof, and police representative Gijs van der Linden about efforts to tackle internet crime in the Netherlands. Finally, the King spoke to SIDN Labs Director Cristian Hesselman, Avast Software CISO Jaya Baloo, and ICANN Board Chair Maarten Botterman about the future challenges facing the internet and SIDN's role in addressing them.
