  • I am looking for a domain name registrant. Where can I look it up?

    The Whois is an easy-to-use tool for checking the availability of a .nl domain name. If the domain name is already taken, you can see who has registered it.

    On the page looking up a domain name you will find more information about what a domain name is, how the Whois works and how the privacy of personal data is protected. Alternatively, you can go straight to look for a domain name via the Whois.

  • I would like to transfer my domain name to another registrar. What is the procedure?

    To get your domain name transferred, you need the token (unique ID number) for your domain name. Your existing registrar has the token and is obliged to give it to you within five days, if you ask for it. The procedure for changing your registrar is described on the page transferring your domain name.

  • The details registered about me/my company are incorrect or out of date. How can I get them updated?

    To update the contact details associated with your domain name, you need to contact your registrar. Read more about updating contact details.

  • Why is my domain name in quarantine?

    When a domain name is cancelled, we aren't told the reason, so we can't tell you. You'll need to ask your registrar. The advantage of quarantine is that, if a name's cancelled by mistake, you can always get it back.

    One common reason is that the contract between you and your registrar says you've got to renew the registration every year. If you haven't set up automatic renewal and you don't renew manually, the registration will expire.

  • Ik heb een klacht over mijn provider/registrar. Kan ik daarvoor bij SIDN terecht?

    Wanneer je een klacht hebt over of een geschil met je registrar dan zijn er verschillende mogelijkheden om tot een oplossing te komen. Hierover lees je meer op pagina klacht over registrar. SIDN heeft geen formele klachtenprocedure voor het behandelen van een klacht over jouw registrar.

  • What conditions do I have to meet as a registrar?

Jeroen Wolsink is our new account manager

A familiar face in the domain name and hosting industry

At the end of June, Jeroen Wolsink joined us as Account Manager. He succeeded Alfredo García Frias, who departed for pastures new the same month. We're very pleased to have Jeroen on board. Over the period ahead, he'll be making personal contact with as many registrars as possible (if he hasn't done so already). In the meantime, a brief written introduction.

Familiar ground

Jeroen Wolsink, account manager SIDN

Jeroen is very familiar with the domain name industry. Before joining SIDN, he spent 11 years with the registrar Antagonist, acquired by group.one in early 2021. Jeroen had various jobs at Antagonist, starting in marketing and ultimately reaching the position of Director of Antagonist and group.one management team member for the Benelux. He's also been active on the Registrars' Association Marketing & Communications Committee for 6.5 years. At the end of 2023, Jeroen briefly left the domain name industry, but we're very pleased that he's now chosen to return and put his immense experience at our disposal.

Collaboration between registrars, the RA and SIDN

"I see SIDN as an organisation with a hugely influential public role. I believe that I can make a valuable contribution in areas such as collaboration between registrars, the RA and SIDN," says Jeroen about his new challenge.

"My new position offers great opportunities for meeting people and learning new things. I'm pleased to be able to use my specialist knowledge and experience of the industry in that context. I'm also looking forward to teaming up with a few people I already know, and in some cases have known for a while."

Making sure smaller registrars aren't overlooked

Jeroen will of course be the first point of contact for our key accounts. He'll be following significant developments very closely and making sure that SIDN is aware of registrars' needs and wishes. He'll also be keeping registrars updated on all the latest news, trends and developments at SIDN and in the wider market.

Enhancing and optimising our services and support will also fall within his remit. "In a world where things change fast, providing registrars with all the information they need, but in a digestible form, represents an exciting challenge," says Jeroen. "And I'm determined that smaller registrars won't be neglected."
