  • I am looking for a domain name registrant. Where can I look it up?

    The Whois is an easy-to-use tool for checking the availability of a .nl domain name. If the domain name is already taken, you can see who has registered it.

    On the page looking up a domain name you will find more information about what a domain name is, how the Whois works and how the privacy of personal data is protected. Alternatively, you can go straight to look for a domain name via the Whois.

  • I would like to transfer my domain name to another registrar. What is the procedure?

    To get your domain name transferred, you need the token (unique ID number) for your domain name. Your existing registrar has the token and is obliged to give it to you within five days, if you ask for it. The procedure for changing your registrar is described on the page transferring your domain name.

  • The details registered about me/my company are incorrect or out of date. How can I get them updated?

    To update the contact details associated with your domain name, you need to contact your registrar. Read more about updating contact details.

  • Why is my domain name in quarantine?

    When a domain name is cancelled, we aren't told the reason, so we can't tell you. You'll need to ask your registrar. The advantage of quarantine is that, if a name's cancelled by mistake, you can always get it back.

    One common reason is that the contract between you and your registrar says you've got to renew the registration every year. If you haven't set up automatic renewal and you don't renew manually, the registration will expire.

  • Ik heb een klacht over mijn provider/registrar. Kan ik daarvoor bij SIDN terecht?

    Wanneer je een klacht hebt over of een geschil met je registrar dan zijn er verschillende mogelijkheden om tot een oplossing te komen. Hierover lees je meer op pagina klacht over registrar. SIDN heeft geen formele klachtenprocedure voor het behandelen van een klacht over jouw registrar.

  • What conditions do I have to meet as a registrar?

The theme of this year's Inspire is 'Forward together'. The pace at which technology develops and new opportunities emerge is constantly increasing. At the same time, the speed of change implies greater, more global risks. And, because we can achieve more together than alone, collaboration is an increasingly attractive means of both exploiting opportunities and mitigating risks – locally, regionally and globally.

Programme

A full afternoon of activities is planned, with an inspiring keynote speaker, 4 sub-sessions, an enjoyable closing presentation and an opportunity for networking over refreshments at the end. Our new venue, LIEMÈS, has a great reputation for food, so you can look forward to a culinary world tour as you chat. Here's a preview of what you can expect...

Inspiring keynote speaker: Gina Doekhie

We'll start proceedings withGina Doekhie, a cybercrime specialist and digital detective dedicated to promoting cyber-resilience and increasing awareness of cyber threats. After specialising in artificial intelligence & forensic science at university, Gina worked for Fox-IT as a digital forensic investigator, developer and trainer.She's now attached to a national police cybercrime unit in The Hague, and acts as a consultant in criminal and civil law. In her presentation, Gina will consider questions such as how enhanced collaboration can help us stay one step ahead of the cybercriminals.

4 sub-sessions

Gina's presentation will be followed by 2 rounds of parallel sub-sessions, with the following 4 choices in each round. Thomas Rickert's presentation will be in English, the others in Dutch.

  • Thomas Rickert, lawyer and Managing Partner at Rickert.law – Update on NIS2 and its impact on the domain name sector within the EU.

  • Berend van Dalfzen, CEO of Realtime Register & Chair of the Registrars' Association – The state of the domain name market.

  • Hester Benedictus, policymaker and inventor of the Lees Simpel app – AI for good: how AI is helping people read difficult correspondence.

  • Elmer Lastdrager, Research Engineer at SIDN Labs – A testbed for evaluating post-quantum DNS algorithms.

Closing presentation: Rens van der Vorst

Technophilosopher Rens van der Vorst will bring the day's main proceedings to a close by exploring a number of challenging questions. How do we stay human in the era of digital technology? When does technology make life better? Indeed, what is 'better'?As well as being informative, Rens will get you thinking with a presentation that's simultaneously abrasive andhilarious.

We'll end the afternoon with refreshments and the opportunity to mingle and chat. The excellent LIEMÈS catering team will make sure that you don't go home hungry!
