Hardly a week passes by without another security incident making the headlines. Websites are attacked and brought down; government services are stalled; sensitive information is hacked. Against that background, the third edition of Holland Strikes Back on 4 October poses two key questions: what forms of cyberattack could hit your organisation, and what can you do to protect against them? Holland Strikes Back aims to provide visitors with the insight, knowledge and tools they need to defend themselves against cybercrime.
DDoS attacks on the DNS root
During the first part of the event, a number of cybersecurity threats will be examined. One of the threats considered will be DDoS attacks on the DNS Root. Dr Ricardo de Oliveira Schmidt from the University of Twente will talk about the groundbreaking research into such attacks that the university and SIDN Labs have been doing in response to the increasing incidence.
Cybersecurity for .nl
For the second part of the programme, the focus switches to ways of working together to head off cybersecurity threats. Giovane Moura, Data Scientist at SIDN Labs, will describe what we are doing at SIDN to protect the .nl domain against cybercrime. Hit this link to see the full programme.
Alert Online
Holland Strikes Back is an initiative by NLnet and DHPA, together with their partners in DINL (AMS-IX, DDA, DHPA, ISPConnect, NLnet, Netherlands ICT, SIDN, Surfnet and the RA). It forms part of Alert Online 2016, a join initiative by the Dutch government, business community and scientific community, designed to increase awareness of on-line security.
