  • I am looking for a domain name registrant. Where can I look it up?

    The Whois is an easy-to-use tool for checking the availability of a .nl domain name. If the domain name is already taken, you can see who has registered it.

    On the page looking up a domain name you will find more information about what a domain name is, how the Whois works and how the privacy of personal data is protected. Alternatively, you can go straight to look for a domain name via the Whois.

  • I would like to transfer my domain name to another registrar. What is the procedure?

    To get your domain name transferred, you need the token (unique ID number) for your domain name. Your existing registrar has the token and is obliged to give it to you within five days, if you ask for it. The procedure for changing your registrar is described on the page transferring your domain name.

  • The details registered about me/my company are incorrect or out of date. How can I get them updated?

    To update the contact details associated with your domain name, you need to contact your registrar. Read more about updating contact details.

  • Why is my domain name in quarantine?

    When a domain name is cancelled, we aren't told the reason, so we can't tell you. You'll need to ask your registrar. The advantage of quarantine is that, if a name's cancelled by mistake, you can always get it back.

    One common reason is that the contract between you and your registrar says you've got to renew the registration every year. If you haven't set up automatic renewal and you don't renew manually, the registration will expire.

  • Ik heb een klacht over mijn provider/registrar. Kan ik daarvoor bij SIDN terecht?

IDnext and SIDN intensify collaboration

The eighth IDnext event is to take place in The Hague on 25 and 26 September 2019. IDnext is Europe's leading independent, interdisciplinary conference for experts and key players in the world of digital identification. From 2019, SIDN and the IDnext organisation will co-host the two-day event devoted to internet security, privacy, trust and digital identities.

Digitisation of society is the internet's new frontier

As the digitisation of society gathers pace, it exerts increasing influence on the economy, society and everyday life. "Secure digital identities are a prerequisite for trust in the digital world," says SIDN's CEO Roelof Meijer. "By collaborating and exchanging knowledge with various key actors, we aim to energise this field. That's why we've been partnering IDnext since 2015." IDnext is an open, independent platform that provides support for innovative developments in the field of digital identification. And, starting in 2019, SIDN and IDnext will be co-organising the number 1 event in that field.

Robert Garskamp, founder of the IDnext platform, is looking forward to the closer working relationship between two organisations with perfectly complementary missions. "Through this strategic partnership with SIDN, we want to place more emphasis on the social role of the internet user," he says. The 2019 IDnext event is scheduled for 25 and 26 September, at New Babylon in The Hague. The conference will be an unmissable gathering for public and private-sector experts and professionals with an interest in digital identification. Internet security, mobility, standards, privacy and other topical issues will be thoroughly explored in presentations and workshops.

Another highlight of the event will be presentation of the Identity Innovation Award. The award's primary purpose is to spotlight innovative projects, concepts and services, and further incentivise startups and established organisations active in this field.
