With Yivi, the municipality of Amsterdam is preparing for the Digital Government Act. They have started an experiment in which Amsterdam residents can track the status of their own public space notifications themselves. For logging in, Yivi is used where only the personal data needed for this purpose is requested. And in this case, that is only a validated e-mail address. With this experiment, the municipality of Amsterdam is gaining experience in using the Yivi app. Marga van Mierlo and Rik van Zwol tell more about it.

Prepared for the future

What exactly the Digital Government Act will mean for the City of Amsterdam's services is not yet entirely clear. The City of Amsterdam is involved in the development of the Yivi app from 2019. With the aim of handling personal data in a safe and reliable way and not requesting or storing unnecessary information. With this, the City of Amsterdam wants to make its digital services more accessible and better. In 2021, it even won an international award for its contribution to Yivi (when it was still called IRMA): WSA award for its contribution to the IRMA app.

Now the municipality of Amsterdam is taking the next step by testing Yivi for reports 'public space and nuisance'. Through this trial, they are investigating how Amsterdam residents experience logging in with the Yivi app and tracking the status of their own reports, such as a broken lantern or other nuisance.
