From 10 to 17 October, it's Code Week. Code Week is an initiative to encourage primary and secondary pupils and teachers to get working with computer code, or 'programming'. And the educational magazine PrimaOnderwijs.nl has brought out a special edition devoted to this important theme. Code Week is sponsored by SIDN.
Code Week special
The special edition is packed with information and tips on helping youngsters to develop e-skills. It also highlights the value of learning to code, such as encouraging logical, analytical and creative thinking. In addition, the magazine describes various initiatives and schemes designed to get children coding. Read the Code Week special online (in Dutch).

SIDN and Code Week
SIDN sponsors Code Week because computer code is the language of the future. Understanding IT is vital for today's youngsters to thrive in tomorrow's world. So it's never too early to get children interested in programming. SIDN also works closely with the company that makes the Bendoo Box. The Bendoo Box is a full set of resources put together to playfully introduce school children to programming with a Raspberry Pi and Scratch software. See Bendoobox.nl for more information.
Code Week
Code Week links together new and established initiatives to focus the attention of pupils and teachers on learning to code. Dutch Code Week is part of European Code Week, an initiative by former European Commissioner Neelie Kroes and her Young Advisors. Dutch Code Week is being organised by ECP, the Platform for the Information Society and the Kennisnet Foundation. Details are available at codeweek.nl.
