It'll soon be Code Week again! This year's week of initiatives designed to encourage pupils and teachers in primary and secondary schools to have a go at coding takes place from 10 to 17 October. And, as a taster, a new programming ABC is available now.
The ABC of programming
The new alphabet poster helps familiarise budding programmers with basic coding terminology. However, it isn't just for those with a fledgling interest in ICT. In the modern world, people in many lines of work have to deal with code and digital technologies. It's therefore increasingly important for everyone to have some basic digital knowledge and skills.

SIDN and Code Week
After becoming involved last year, SIDN is pleased to continue its association with Code Week. The Dutch business community has a strong interest in the Netherlands maintaining high levels of ICT and programming knowledge. In children being introduced to ICT early in life and getting to see what a fun subject it can be. In more people opting for a career in ICT. That is why SIDN is supporting Code Week.
Code Week
Dutch Code Week is part European Code Week, an initiative by European Commissioner Neelie Kroes (Digital Agenda) and her Young Advisors, in tandem with the European eSkills for Jobs campaign. In the Netherlands, Code Week is being organised by Kennisnet and ECP in association with the European Commission and a large number of companies and schools. Details of Dutch Code Week, including a full list of Code Week activities, are available at www.codeweek.nl.
