Catch-up: Webinar on the implications of the GDPR for domain registration

On Thursday 5 April, SIDN held a webinar on the implications of the GDPR for domain registration.  With more than eighty participants, the session was a big success.

On 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force in the Netherlands. The GDPR is the EU's new privacy law, which regulates the legitimate and reasonable use of (personal) data. Our webinar was arranged to explore the GDPR's implications for the registration, transfer and cancellation of .nl and other domain names. What steps do you need to take and what will other registrars be doing?

Impact on domain registration

Peter Kager, Privacy Manager at ICTRecht, explained what the GDPR means for the domain name registration industry. How is data shared between registrant, registrar and SIDN? Who has responsibility for what? Peter was followed by Chiel van Spaandonk, Registration & Service Specialist at SIDN, who described the changes we'll be making to the Registrar Whois. What information are you currently allowed to look up, which you won't have access to after 25 May?
